The More you Know: Worker Suffers "Significant" Injuries After Being Trapped At Midtown Construction Site (Toronto, ON)

A construction worker had to be rescued after he became trapped between an elevator and a wall in midtown Toronto on Monday morning.

Toronto Fire crews managed to free the worker in what fire chief Matthew Pegg called a “slow and methodical process” at a construction site near Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East.

“One male patient was trapped between the construction elevator and the wall of the building eight storeys up,” Pegg explained. “So that began what has been a very complex rescue for our crews.”

The worker, a man in his 30s, was eventually freed and taken down with a tower ladder to awaiting paramedics.

Pegg said he suffered “significant” injuries.

Toronto police and the Ministry of Labour are investigating.
