POLICY DEVELOPMENT

Effective policies provide Employees with a clear and consistent message.  Ultimately, supporting the mission of the organization and and ensuring compliance, accountability and performance.  This requires an effective policy development program that includes a needs analysis, proper research and consistent messaging that is clear and concise.  Not only in the policy document itself, but also in all supporting materials.

HEALTH and SAFETY POLICY

   

A mandatory Legislative requirement, the Health and Safety Policy is the most important policy for all workplaces and is the fundamental guide for workplace performance, expectations, and safety.  It should be well laid out, concise and inclusive.  Clearly defining the safety goals and expectations of  the organization and the roles and responsibilities of all employees.  

 

 

WORKPLACE VIOLENCE and HARASSMENT POLICY

   

A fundamental workplace document, the Workplace Violence and Harassment Policy (WPVH) is a Legislative requirement under the OHSA and must include clearly defined principles of workplace violence prevention, incident management, emergency response and employee education and awareness training.

 

 

 

EMERGENCY RESPONSE & TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLANS

   

As part of an effective Health and Safety program, Employers must develop Emergency Response policies and Traffic Control Plans.  This includes the identification of known or potential workplace emergencies and defining appropriate response procedures for the protection of all workers.

 

 

 

SAFE WORK PROCEDURES (SWP)

 

Included as part of a comprehensive Health and Safety program is the development of site-specific Safe Work Procedures (SWP).  This includes conducting site or task-specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) or equipment and/or process Pre-Start Reviews (PSR), as well as supporting education and awareness programs.

 

 

POLICY REVIEW 

 

All Policies should be reviewed a minimum of once each year.  For certain policies, such as the Health and Safety Policy, it is a legal requirement under the OHSA.  As part of our overall Health and Safety services, we schedule and review your policies annually to ensure Legislative compliance, accountability and corporate consistency.  This includes all updates, such as additions, amendments and/or retractions, as well as version control numbering.

 

INSPECTION CHECKLISTS and FORMS

 

The key to the implementation of any policy is employee training and the use of simple, but effective supporting documentation.  Our services include the design and development of workplace forms, such as inspection checklists, incident report forms or employee surveys.  Included with all documentation is the implementation of up-to-date Document Control Numbers (DCN).
